Description You look down on me thinking I have no future.
You think holding my hand will help me later in life.
You treat me like an animal and don't think I understand.

You try to point out facial expressions I already understand.
You tell me how I should act, think and feel.
I do something wrong, you forgive me too much.

I try to get away from you; you just follow.
I don't trust people because of you.
You pay more attention because you think it's worse now.

You say Aspergers is a problem.
I agree...it makes you view me differently and I want you to stop.

I am a human, not aspergers.
Treat me like it.

If the majority of the global population were Aspergers, YOU would be seen as weird, or even "retarded". Ever thought of that? Retardation is a matter of view and it's very mean to use that word.
Besides, it means being mentally backwards (which I suspect you know), but many Aspergers are fairly smart (for example, my own IQ is about 120, which is the higher average, not that I want to compliment myself).
I don't mean to sound arrogant or whining, but you should inform yourself about Asperger Syndrome more, before you come to such a conclusion.

Oooh nice. Most other posts are about the problems caused directly by having the condition, not the one-step-removed problems caused by other people causing problems for you

I like this. I went a year at a special school and oh boy does it coddle us. I always got the sense that their interest in our hobbies were faked, and that their method of 'helping' really just held us back from trying to get over the problems

"I don't trust people because of you."

I have aspergers and that line completely describes my 7th grade year. I was picked on left and right. Hell I was even afraid to go on the dance floor at my high school prom because I was afraid someone might make fun of me for some dance move I didn't know.

I second this. We aspies ought to speak up if we want to be heard. Oftentimes I place my voice of experience in academic essays. It is one great way to spread awareness, not only from the exterior, but also the interior.
