Description
My main protagonist, Taim Jones.I feel the story is going through some cleaning. I'm tossing the characters I don't need and refurbishing the needed ones.

Maybe that frown eventually turning upside down is one facet of his character development because he really wears that smile well
Taim actually looks dominantly sad on his darker days while Koegi seems to be dominated by anger. It would be interesting and ironic if Taim's happy mode is louder and jovial while Koegi's happy mode is chill and agreeable (like a stormy tempest vs. a calm ocean bay).

HOW. DID. YOU. KNOW?! I always imagine when Taim does get genuinely happy, it's easier for him to get loud and excited while I don't hardly see Koegi getting all too loud unless he's consumed by anger or annoyance.

Since you've said something about it, I've really been wanting to draw them together more. They have to deal with each other alot in the story, being main characters and all.

Then you'd probably have to throw in a plot point that forces them to be together more. Whether it be a mutual dependence, a similar goal, etc.
