My first booth! I'll try to keep this short and sweet:

Before anything, I need vent out on how surprised and happy I was meeting people who already knew me. I thought it hilarious how some just stood there frozen, squealing, with a hand out for a handshake. XD Meeting everyone was really the best part of Comic Con. (great admiration to those who took on the juggling challenge)

So being on the other side of the table has brought me to unexpected realizations and experiences. I'm not sure wether I'd like to do it again, to be honest. I enjoyed fondly interacting with artists/fans (I'm dying to meet them again) and the cosplays way more than selling my own art. I scanned through the residues of the merch and it turns out that the merch that sold the most had Jack in it LOL.

I took the challenge to get out there with mostly Jesterday merch, and while I'd had probably sold even more if I had done mainstream fanart, I'm glad I focused on Jesterday alone. A lot of people complimented Jack (Kairy didn't get much attention) and I was repeatedly asked 'which anime is this?'. But even when people choose my original characters over fanart merch, it didn't fill me inside, nor I felt achieved much. I'm utterly happy that they were liked and bought, even when I have revealed so little about their story but... I don't know, selling merch might not be my thing. Alas, it was a great experience!!

I learned that commissions are ADORED. It taught me the drastic contrast of interest when buying merch of any character vs. something exclusive and custom. There were a few more commissions I forgot to take pics of, but they generally consisted of fanart. I ended up with aching ribs and partly deaf ears (from hugs and squeals).

The one moment I will never forget was when a middle-aged(?) man stood looking at everything I had on my booth. I was distracted by other customers but when I gave my attention to him again, he was silently crying. He told me he'd buy my book. I asked him what's the matter, he dried his eyes with his hands, shook his head and apologized for not knowing what had gotten into him, that it hadn't happened to him before. He told me he was moved by my works, that he'd always wanted to draw but never really devoted himself to it. I desperately tried telling him the most useful of advices, but I ended up sounding like every artist. I felt so useless and guilty. When he left, it was my turn to dry my eyes (shut up I'm pretty sentimental, if you haven't noticed.) The next day he came by, apologizing once more for his behavior, and bought something else.

I've set up a little online shop to get rid of the remaining things, take a look around!
