My project was to create a fan cartoon character model sheet for this female Autobot character named "Lancer". She is apart of the Female Autobots resistance group back on her planet "Cybertron", bravely defending it against the evil Decepticons, who endlessly try to rule over it!
I always wanted to do my version of Lancer since she is just a great looking character and she deserves it!
This is my take on the cartoon design which there is very limited references for the character and no official cel animation character model sheet ever shown yet or released and that includes both her modes.
She never had any speaking lines and was mainly helping with computer/tech duties and helping but supporting her Female Autobot comrades against the Decepticons which I still love!
Robot mode: I had a challenging time in trying to figure out how to design Lancer's robot mode as the scenes she features in are not always consistent which was normal back then in the cartoon in certain episodes or characters, however I imagined and designed her the way I would see her in a character model sheet which I'm satisfied with. I designed her weapon to be a futuristic looking mini sniping laser blaster as I imagine her personality to be supportive and staying in the distance to sniper her enemies while protecting her comrades yet also can join the battlefront if need be.
Alt mode: I pictured her alt mode aesthetics as a slim/sleek sports car as her body proportions and parts really just spoke to me on how she could look. I had a even more challenging time in trying to decipher how to incorporate Lancer's robot mode design elements into her alt mode which again in the cartoon she only transforms once and you don't really get any clear definitive alt mode design from that scene as she is literally transforming mid-way to robot mode, thus leaving you scratching your head but that is the beauty of the cartoon and how they use mass shifting so things are made possible! Nonetheless I had fun with it and imagined how I wanted to envision her if she were to exist in the cartoon with more scenes as she is one of my favourite and I really enjoyed her whole character design and colours!
I may do some changes or updates in the future but otherwise I'm very happy the way its turned out!
Lastly, I hope this can help as a reference guide for anyone who likes this great character!

The alt-mode (Cybertronian vehicle mode) appears as though it could be a close match to the Cybertronian alt-mode of the original G1 Hot Rod.Β Β

No, Thank You!Β The only real difference I can see in the alt-mode is this one does not have the aero-wing spoiler on the back.Β The basic vehicle design does appear similar.

Beautifully done! It's great to see more of the original G1 female transformers!
Strangely, she reminded me of Alana. But IΒ guess you captured her face so well, I can see where the face could have been used for other characters!

Thank you so much my dear friend Sonya!
I can see and relate to that. Thanks a lot! The face was important to capture as it is one of the mean features that helps distinguishes the Female Autobots and make them look unique as a group so I'm glad you pointed that out!

Again, thank you!
Sorry, I don't really know them, only heard of them and have no connection to them. I just love doing mainly stuff from the G1 cartoon.
