Transformers G1 - Protectobot
My character study on the Autobot "Streetwise". Here you can see a front, back, and side view of the character.
-Comments-
I'm very happy with the results as I wanted to draw the details more accurately for Streetwise and drawing the lips was the best part.
I'm also working on the other members of the "Protectobots" which I'm looking forward to sharing with you people!

I know what you mean! The G1 toy simply had the robot face, nose, mouth (lipless) so its always interesting to what to know what kind of process they went through with designing the cartoon character designs from the toys. I'm all for it though with his iconic lips and no nose design, its very different and as odd as it is, its not like all robots have to have a nose, they sense not smell and Streetwise' profile is being the one who's specialty is remembering surroundings and places so that's another example.
Overall it makes him unique among the unique Protectobots, I love it!

If I remember rightly, I think that Streetwise was animated with a nose in some episodes.

What's your favourite thing about the Protectobots?

Oh a lot things!
First one is I remember them well when I watched their episodes as a kid, something just caught my attention to them.
They have individual unique and interesting designs.
Their alt modes I think are cool and interesting as a combiner team.
Seeing a gestalt like Defensor having Forcefield powers I really love.
Their purposes, they are in the service to protect, save, and help, rather than fight first. Something I've grown and learned from and where I work relates to that.
And most of all the episodes The Ultimate Weapon and The Return of Optimus Prime, Part I & II. Are episodes that I never forget, especially since I always wanted to see them in those episodes do what they do best and the duties they fulfill as Autobots, its just awesome!

Good on you. I can see that you're a big fan of the Protectobots. You're obviously obsessed with the Protectobots as much as I am obsessed with Soundwave. Would you say that they were your favourite Transformers, or do you have another Transformer that is No.1 favourite?

I think I would agree on you there he has a pretty simple nice design and yes the lips are his greatest features love those lips.

I like it
I like the old school, 80's comic book look.
But why the Protectabots? They were a little on the weak side.
The Autobot gestalts were all on the nerd team.
Computron, Superion, Defensor....
While the Decepticons had Devastator and Predaking and Bruticus.

They never did the ultimate gestalts though.

He'd look epic if he didn't have the lips X3 But thats my opinion. I just think the guys who made the Tfs got bored of giving them either facemasks or normal mouths! XD

That's fair enough original they gave him no mouth in the cartoon and comics but with the toy he has a nose.
I think the no nose for Streetwise gives him a unique look and makes him look cool!

I've always considered it to be something like Optimus Primal's faceplate. Y'know, how it has that gap in it for his mouth. I guess it just makes more sense for me that way, especially considering his noselessness XD
