This is actually pretty impressive. I know that transforming sequences are tedious.
Ending of the transformation was cute, too. It was like- "Whoa wait, where's her head- oh, hello there". XD

This is not at all fair, but the next challenge would be this:Β give her a range of animated expressions that uniquely represent her character.Β The two TFP femme-bots we've seen thus far have very different expressions, even for similar sets of emotions.
Again, I realize that's WHOLLY unfair.Β It may also be moot -- you could take the Optimus Prime/Ultra Magnus approach.Β As a ranking leader she might be so controlled as to rarely allow her emotions to show.

i would think of her as some kind of mother.. Arcee behave like a sister, Airachnid behave like a evil seductive temptress...

Sequito-Equitis In reply to JPL-Animation [2014-06-13 17:14:08 +0000 UTC]
I disagree with Arcee, as "sister" is far too generic for a very specific character.
I strongly suspect that she was written with the Ellen Ripley character from Alien and then Aliens in mind.Β They even channeled a few of Ripley's best scenes, including the insanely courageous charge to save Newt in Aliens (the first one, that failed).Β Arcee jumped a land-bridge and raced around the interior of the Decepticon Warship solo in an attempt to recover Orion Pax, who wasn't a child nor did she have maternal feelings for him, but it clearly wasn't romantically motivated either.Β Β A scream of frustration ended the scene both in Aliens and in TFP: Orion Pax - Part I.
The strong influence of the now combined Alien/Predator franchise in the Arcee/Airachnid centric episode "Predatory" is an obvious give-away.Β They even borrowed some of the soundtrack beats.
I disagree with Airachnid somewhat as well -- as she didn't actually try to be "seductive" at any single point.Β Sadist and (self-described) opportunist come closer.

Sequito-Equitis In reply to JPL-Animation [2014-06-13 19:03:08 +0000 UTC]
Sorry, man.Β I was just kibitzing.
I was also sort of hinting at how you could tackle it without being blunt.Β I can think of a couple females in leadership roles in genre fiction to suggest, but you are on too good a roll with this character already.Β I'm afraid of messing with your vision if I name any specifically.
So I'll suggest a method rather than examples.Β
If you want to go shopping for expressions and/or character traits, make a list of favorite female characters from various media that have traits that you'd want to see in an Elita One character.Β Break 'em down from there -- sort of like a grocery shopping list or a menu.Β If you ever decide to do a gallery of expressions, perhaps like Bruce Timm did for characters in BTAS, that list will give you all sorts of source material.
Whether it's a fair challenge or not, I think you've already shown the skill necessary to bring that face to life.
PS:Β I had initially assumed you weren't being paid for this, but now I'm not sure.Β I sure as hell HOPE you're being paid for work this good.

JPL-Animation In reply to Sequito-Equitis [2014-06-13 19:14:32 +0000 UTC]
lol.. no one is paying me.. i created this Elita at my own will
Anyway, i tried Optimus and Ultramagnus approach. Ultramagnus is a little bit too uptight in my opinion.. Im trying to put Optimus's personality in her but im trying to do something different..
im actually thinking that what if Elita is like a woman in charge in the family... she would do anything to keep the family ( which in this case, the autobots ) together.. her alliance is to autobots no matter what.. a tough skinned character who take orders very seriously.. especially from optimus.. not because of love, but because of respect and also the fact that Optimus once shared his "spark" with her to save her live back on cybertron. she took pride in that.Β
she thinks that Optimus's word are the absolute law and she would obey it. and she would channel that similar thinking to other Autobots, by force if necessary.. Though a lot of autobots seeking some advice from her, some other are irritated by her because she seems not giving them a free will to act on their own whenever she's nearby. That's one of her weakness.. she don't like anything between autobots to happen behind her back. All of this is also based on the fact that Optimus is the leader of Autobots. To her, Optimus's career is also her career, and she would do anything to help him fulfill his goal to defeat decepticon.. If Optimus is lost, or the Autobots are destroyed, she would lost her identity, because that is where her heart is. according to her, Optimus is the head, and she consider herself as the backbone of the autobots. and she want others to acknowledge that, and she demands respect in return.
betrayal is her biggest weakness.. If one autobot betrayed his mark and joined decepticon, she's going to make sure that those autobot never reach that goal. she would kill that autobot if necessary.. and this applied to every autobots, even Optimus himself.. She rather see him dead at her own hand rather than give up and join decepticon.Β
that's what i have so far.. i still need to find a way to develop her arc. because now she sounds overcontrolling, although she done that based on justice and truth.
the reason i went for this type is because, well after watching G1 episode, i'm kinda mad that she's a bit weak, so i made a little bit change in her, to make her look tough and have her own ideology and opinion...

That's pretty damned good.
Unquestioning loyalty to the patriarch above all else.Β
Expecting of similar if not quite as extreme loyalty from those beneath her in the hierarchy.Β Reciprocating that loyalty with nearly parental concern for her charges but vengeful toward those who violate the faith.
(Please correct me if I got any of that wrong)
I had thought you were talking a maternal character -- like Demeter in the Greek myths.
What you've described sounds like Athena from the Greek myths to me.Β Athena (Minerva to the Romans) was considered a Goddess of Wisdom, War, and Artifice (i.e. technology to the Greeks such as the loom and the pottery wheel).Β
I'd put her closer a favorite aunt with high matriarchal rank, first among women and second only to precious few men, rather than a mother (not that I'm a big believer in patriarchy, but both Autobots and Decepticons seem to be).
(Am I helping, hurting, or just a bother?)

JPL-Animation In reply to Sequito-Equitis [2014-06-13 19:47:09 +0000 UTC]
no you're not bothering.. XD
im actually took this from Hera.. Demeter is also have maternal instinct, but she's weaker and passive.. Hera has more control and she will stand tall even on the face of insult because of what she believe in... If someone betrayed her, she would make sure no one leave peacefully.. if the case gone too extreme, she would kill them.. while Demeter is going to took it personally and might be blaming herself for what happened because she think that she's not good enough for her family hence they betrayed her...Β
well, both of them have sense to be needed by the family anyway.. XD

You sold yourself short when you said you weren't good with characters: I've known those with formal education in Greek archetypes who wouldn't do as well.
Hera is an interesting choice.Β She was the goddess of matrimony (not necessarily *happy* matrimony) and derived a lot of her stature from being the wife of Zeus.Β Β I don't make her out to be as passive as Demeter or Aphrodite.Β Athena as a war goddess and Artemis as a goddess of the bow and the hunt would probably be the least passive females among the big 12.Β Hera, Athena, and Artemis all had their vengeful sides, but that sort of goes without saying for *any* Greek deity; the only differences were what would offend each particular goddess.Β Hera was pretty much kept busy by the constant philandering of Zeus!
I definitely see your point, though.Β Athena is just a shield-maiden and favored daughter while Hera is a queen and sister (yuck!) who is far closer to Zeus's equal.

ah i see.. well, i found these archetypes from the web long time ago actually.. at first when i applied the archetype im kinda leaning more towards demeter, because im kind of interested what would happen if she turned evil ( like secretly poisoned her own child so she can took care of him so he would thank her )<< that's wicked. But then, i dont think Elita would turn evil except if something really wrong happened, and she has to be stronger, that's why i took Hera.
but seriously.. im not really that good on character.. >.<
