Don't they technically wear armor though? Various continuities seem to imply this, usually by having them take off either a helmet or chest piece or something (Hound's helmet in Age of Extinction or the infamous scene with Thunderblast exposing herself in Transformers Cybertron as examples). Though, I suppose those would make the joke fall flat wouldn't they.
