Description The similarities are few, but many between these two.
I have a theory.
Since "Roger Rabbit" is owned by more than one company, Disney was unable to produce an animated series starring the funny bunny.
Cue in "Bonkers D. Bobcat".
But all-in-all, maybe it was best there was no Roger Rabbit series, it could have killed the character's appeal with audiences sooner than expected. A blessing in disguise maybe?

Roger copyright Disney/Amblin
Bonkers copyright Disney

Do you have any pics of said plush? I've never seen any Bonkers merchandise before....

I can take one for you, sure thing. It is one of him in his police outfit. I got it on eBay about four years ago. Give me a day or two and I'll send a pic to you. Thanks.

I remember it airing for a full year after school at the same time, same station, until the new Disney Afternoon show premired.

Yes, you're right about copyright issues. Disney wanted a Roger Rabbit cartoon, but Spielberg (Amblin) didn't allow them to go further with the idea; after all there was some kind of feud between Disney and Amblin for the usage of the characters.

Nice drawing, by the way (although I'm not really a fan of Bonkers)

I wonder if Roger Rabbit II will ever be developed? One can hope can't he?

I wonder the same. I'd love to see that movie, even when I already know how it will end (and still scratching my head about Roger's lost father identity)

You're right, pal.

As far as I know, there are some arrangements between Bob Iger and Amblin about the appeareances of Roger Rabbit on Disney's theme parks; Iger wants Roger Rabbit in every Disney park (and not only in the form of those annoying collector pins, but real appeareances of Roger walking around the parks).

Maybe this can lead to some kind of further arrangements about Roger Rabbit and his friends, I hope

I always like to think that Disney finally absorbed some "WB-wackiness" and let it out in their features with "Aladdin", and in their television series with "Darkwing Duck"!

Great stuff! I've been watching your style, and your character construction skills are steadily getting more and more solid.

I believe I heard somewhere that, yes, "Bonkers" was a result of Disney wanting to make a TV series based on Who Framed Roger Rabbit but being legally unable to use Roger, Jessica, Baby Herman, or any of those characters. Still, as a surrogate, Bonkers and crew seemed to work all right.

Yep. part of the Toon Division for the Hollywood Police Force.
Disney did introduce him in an "Animaniacs-type show" called Raw Toonage.
That's were he had his green shirt design!
