Background
Commander Ragnar was a super tactical droid served in the droid army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic, as a commanding officer of a secret CIS base on the planet Yaavo.
Some point between 20-19 BBY, on the order of Count Dooku and General Grievous, Separatists set up a secret base on the planet Yaavo in the Wild space. The base housed a laboratory to create a bioweapon by recreating old Sith warbeasts. The project was led by Dr. Haral Coslav, a Targanian scientist who had conducted similar experiments in his home world before fleeing with his family, after which the Separatists had forced him to work for them. Ragnar was appointed commander of the base and its garrison by General Grievous. At the same time he received an order from Grievous to observe Dr. Cosval.
By using the remains of an ancient Sith warbeast, the scientists succeeded in creating one creature, mutated and cybernetically enhanced. But since the creature was uncontrollable, it was kept in isolation until it was controlled.
In 19 BBY, as the war reached its end, the project was still ongoing when Ragnar along with the rest of the Separatist Droid Army received the order for the immediate deactivation of all battle droids with the war over as a result of the deaths of all Separatist leadership. However, Ragnar prevented his and his droids' deactivation as he believed the order and news of the General Grievous death was a Republic trick. As a result, Ragnari and his droid forces remained on the Yaavo for several years, continuing the superweapon project, while concealing news from scientists, saying that connections with the outside world were cut for security reasons.
For two years, the base was quietly isolated from the rest of the galaxy, but exhausted supplies began to show. However, in 17 BBY, Ragnar did not have time to think about supplies when two war fleet enter the system, lead by Morgg and Kellas , the two ex-Separatist turn warlords who seek a weapon to gain an advantage for their enemies. A former Separatist agent who knew of Grievous's base had revealed its location to them for a fee. While these warlords began fighting each other for control of the super weapon over the planet, Ragnar, still loyal to Greivous and refusing to hand over the weapon, commanded his entire garrison to the battlefields to defend the base. Eventually Morgg's fleet overwhelmed Kellas's fleet.
While Morgg's fleet clean up rest of Kellas forces and and prepared to take over the base, Ragnar had an intense conversation with Dr. Cosval. Ragnar wanted not only to protect the weapon, but also to use it as a "test" against "traitors", while Cosval wanted to destroy it.
Cosval had long suspected that Ragnar was concealing the truth about the course of the war, and now the arrival and battle between the two former Separatist armies testified to the suspicions and he announced his intention to destroy his creation rather than allow it to fall into the wrong hands. Ragnar grabbed Cosval's throat and threatened to kill him if he disobeyed the orders when a young female Targanian whit lightsaber enter the room. Whit her lightsaber She first cut down Ragnar's guards and then split Ragnar in the middle. The woman was Inez Kamina , ex-padawan and survivor of the Order 66, who had infiltrated the base during the battle, along with her boyfriend Jonas Bowan , to prevent the weapon from falling into the hands of the Galactic Empire.
Without Ragnar’s leadership, the base’s defenses collapsed as Morgg’s forces captured it. Morgg eventually made a deal with Cosval to let him and Kamina and Bowan leave in exchange for access codes. Morgg didn't know the creature was a weapon and it broke free from its restraints and attacked, devouring Morgg and her fleet personnel just before the base sabotaged fusion core exploded, destroying the base, leaving arrived Imperial fleet to find only a large crater and a Morgg's Separatist fleet without a leader.
