The poison in the cobra venom spread.  I'm guessing Kion did not get the chance to go to the Tree of Life and meet Rani or get cured...considering he looks older.  Maybe he did but the venom couldn't be healed and he ended up killing the lion guard (not much of a lion guard with only one lion if you ask me) though I'd like to think Fuli at least escaped to live with Azad.  Hmm so I know Scar has something to do with, at least that is my theory, and Kion's scar.  He's a traitor...maybe he killed Kovu and Kiara or even took out Simba.  I figure Simba has got to be old by this time if he's still alive.   I'll have to think on this.

Theory aside, I love the grass and the fire as well as Scar's image rising above the ashes and fire.  Kion's emotion is really beautiful.
