Description
Finally Thomas starts and brings Gordon’s coaches to the platform. An impatient Gordon then starts to make his plan, he backs down on the coaches almost before they stop moving and orders everyone to get in quickly. Thomas usually pushes behind the Express to help it start, but not before being uncoupled, this time Gordon starts so quickly that there was no time to uncouple Thomas! Gordon and the Express speed through the countryside and through Henry’s Tunnel with an exhausted Thomas in tow.

Poor Thomas was out of breath and his wheels hurt him and he worries that he’ll never be the same engine again. Finally, the Express stops at Crovan’s Gate, the Works Station and the transfer to the Skarloey Railway. Thomas is uncoupled, turned round on the turntable, takes a long drink and trundles slowly back to Vicarstown, vowing to never be cheeky to Gordon again.
