Patricia was a Latin born in raised in Brooklyn who always wanted to be a superhero. She ended up creating the super hero identity Hellcat. She went to Doctor Strange, hoping she can get superpowers with his help, he gave her the bandana on her head that gives her the ability to sense mystical phenomenon's and defenders her against magical attacks. Doctor Strange recruited her to the original Defenders. When the team disbanded, she found Daredevil and later joined the New Defenders. When that team disbanded she went with Luke, Dan, and Jess to start the Heroes for Hire.
