Description The finished model.I need to add texture and normal maps soon.

I made a rendered video of a turntable... turns out I forgot to add the appliance thing that connects Ninetail's body to the tails.
I'll add it next time I make the finished turntable. in the meantime, enjoy the magic of a mental ray render.

Ninetails low-poly for a final exam. 4,684 polys, 9,046 tris

Thanks~

YOU get to model Ninetails as your final exam?! Lucky...
It's an impressive model. I look forward to seeing the finished work with the textures and stuff. Say, what software did you use to model Ninetails?

Thanks xD I really should be doing that, but I somehow began working on other stuff. I hope to get to it soon.
As for the program, I used 3dmax~

I can't imagine how much work this was... or how awesome it will be when coloured!

Thanks It took about 2 weeks on and off, and despite stopping on problem areas, I had fun doing it~
I really hope to color this one, but I have yet to find/create appropiate textures to fit the semi-realistic style I wish to go for

That's utterly fantastic. And coming from a game where most of the official artwork is low quality....

Thumbs up.

wow, it looks really detailed even for low poly

Thanks~ I kind of surprised myself too, given it's below 5000 polys, and games nowadays tend to have characters between 10k or 30k polys!

Silent-Neutral In reply to Jruva [2010-12-13 09:21:08 +0000 UTC]

jeez D: industry standards keep rising...but for a single human character, 30k polys might be stretching it, wouldn't it?
Anyways, Ninetales brings back vague memories...I remember dying so many times because he kept healing and then killing me with his ass/tail XD

It tends to be that high with acclaimed games, like Arkham Asylum, Gears of War, God of War III, Halo, Uncharted specially (this one tends to go over the limit with poly count but has amazing results) , etc.
I remember Ninetails too, it was one of my favorite fights, but I hated Eightails and Sixtails the most Dx

aghh I can imagine the results @.@ I haven't played those games, aside from God of war 3, but yeah....geez the detail is amazing. haha...I don't think I want to go into games anymore (used to do a course on it)

oh I can't remember what all the fights were like. I just hated when he multiplied into 3 at a time, that was bloody hard XD

Very nice!
One question though; are you going to cel shade it like the original or try out some realistic texturing?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jruva In reply to Sophtopus [2010-12-09 20:31:41 +0000 UTC]

I would totally love to do a realistic texturing, given the lighting I offered here seems the most attractive choice. But that will come later; since it's my final exam and it's due next week, I'll go for a simple cel-shade to present it. So yes,I'm doing both, but due to time constraints I'm going to do the cel-shade one first.

I'll look forward to the textured version then

It'll be nice to look a the cell shaded version too
