Well - as I live in the middle of the country it's a five hour drive minimum to a beach - but yes - there are spectacular lakes a couple of hours away

Oh wow! Here in California it only takes roughly 30 minutes to an hour to get to the beaches (Depending on where you live and traffic of course).
