Description some say
by jsenn

Some say there are no fairies, but I have
seen them dancing at midnight
clothed in silvered
moonbeams
and once
within
a
glance
I saw them
glimmer inside
warm golden sunbeams,
sparkling lights I could not
catch, dancing across Mama's kitchen wall.

The form of this poem is like an energy register- I read quickly at first, then had to slow in the middle, squeezing myself through "within a glance" like a child holding her breath and standing almost-still, which is as still as a child can stand, and then bursting with excitement again on the other side, knowing magic is with me. Such a gift it is, to see magic in the everyday.

i really like the shape that this poem has taken....that in itself is captivating...and the words? excellent...or rather...the word that comes to mind is delectable...i can picture a small child dancing around in my mothers kitchen looking in the beams for fairies....

I like it simple, straightforward, full of belief, for those who know how to see...

Oh yeah, I remember them I still see them every once in a blue moon but they fade so fast (and my mind works overtime to dispel the magic). -sigh-

It has a light hearted feel, like worthwhile memories but for some reason I feel regret...maybe how much it reminded me of innocent wondering smiles in childhood and how they are lost to me.

Just wondering did you spin this off the attached picture (they seem made for each other).

pretty and whimsical, i like it

tis a sad thought that we lose this as we grow...the child inside of us recesses. i hope to cherish him inside me, it seems to brighten the world.

Oh my gosh Joy, this is so absolutely beautiful!! I am adding this to my faves right now....wow......I like the content, the structure, and especially the last couple of lines. Man...it just adds such a childlike innocense to the whoel thing. I can see my little cousins saying this as they sit in the kitchen, licking popsickles on a hot summer day, commenting almost nonchalantly "You know, i saw faeries in the sunbeams yesterday". Kids say the most amazing things don't they? You have totally captured the essence of what it is like to be young and innocent. When you see knights in clouds and rosebuds in your mashed potatoes.....*sigh* Very well constructed piece.

It's been a while since I've been to Deviant Art, its going to take me a while to catch up reading all Poems you have submitted since last here. THis one however has stood out so far. I love the image. A topic from my own heart. CHasing the magic. You know it exists, always from the corner of your eye. At night and durning the day, the fierys play.

both sides of the spectrum (the poem) the magic still frolics.
