The IG-100 Magna Guardia are bodyguard droids for high-ranking Separatist leaders, equipped with electrostaffs that could repel Jedi lightsabers and were programmed to continue fighting even if they lost a limb or head, making them formidable duelists. (The Great Guard's fighting tactic was to divide the Jedi's attention by blocking his offensive while exposing his rival's unprotected flanks.)
In addition to the electro baton, the Magna Guardias could use another arsenal such as: missile launchers, blaster pistols, electric whips and explosives depending on the assigned mission. Trained by General "Grievous" himself in the art of combat, the demands of their training left them with burns and dents that Cyborg himself refused to repair to prove his droid escorts worthy of wearing the ritual cloaks of their homeworld. (Getting a more menacing appearance.)
Loyal to their master, the Magna Guards only followed a single directive to maintain a protective shield around General Grievous while two escorts could attack, another two remained in reserve for any unforeseen events, the armor of the Magna Guards was so resistant that they were difficult to attack. knock down even with the feet magnetized to the ground.
With the death of the General and the end of the clone wars, the Magna Guardias were deactivated and sold to criminal organizations who acquired them as a private collection.
