The scene refers to my favorite chapter of the first story (she has written three by now!), in which Severus is sick and Dumbledore sends McGonagall to watch Harry for the day...

Well, she uses her time with the boy to subtly pull him over to the Gryffindor-side...by buying him a huge lion plushie.
Severus was not amused when he found his protégé later, sleeping content in his bed and snuggling the symbol of the enemy.
