Concept art for one of the new skills in Blasphemous. A giant ghostly skeleton that follows you close as your shadow and can protect you or attack as you attack. I had a lot of fun painting the Penitent One running trying to load the illustration with some action.

I preferred the anime, as the story felt muddled in the game play, scary as it was; I wish they had touched upon the unique weirdness of Dante’s heaven a bit. For most philistines, board by liturgical style poetry, it goes over their heads. It’s a cruel world where the Best of Things seems “dull”.
See, he described heaven as a series of 3-Spheres, each one inside another, like a 4 Dimensional version of a Matrioshka brain/&/or/Dyson Sphere. We could have ended on a note of him and Beatrix having fun romping around them, like a Zero-G dance.
