Hi,
I made them in zbrush. It's all about being aware of the actual size of the stuff you are making, and trying to use actual real and good miniatures as reference for the size of stuff. I don't think people making minis do that some times. They work like they are sculpting something for a videogame. I don't think many people once they finished scuplting, go to the printed version and study how to improve it. I think most people think that if it looks good in the computer then its good, and that is totally not true because in the computer you lack the hability to see depth and the way the computer paints the model on the screen, although it looks realistic its so not real.
