Description
This particular piece follows along after Autumn Harvest and Winter Garden. I took a tangent off what would originally have been the spring part of that series and got into doing this mechanical mermaid design. When UDON invited me to contribute to their 10 year anniversary art book VENT I decided to submit this piece. VENT includes fantastic artwork from all the UDON crew showcasing their own original ideas and projects. This piece is part of my own artistic exploration of the aesthetic elements that I gravitate towards when building my own fictional worlds.Related content

I love the idea of the mechanical mermaid suit! There's sortof a James Gurney-meets-Ms.Frizzle look going on here, and, to echo the previous comment, the closeup on her makes me want to know what it would be like to be in that suit and have so much freedom under water. If the greatest goal of fantasy painting is to make the reader want to step into it (which I think it is) you have succeeded.
