I like it! It looks like his MK9 self but better. Especially the hair. That awkward, unnatural parting always bothered me

me too, the default hair was just a little wacky, the hairline was too low i think? it looked like bangs, or something, and yet that didn't quite fit... it was more a bad wig than anything

Yes! Very low! It can occur IRL but it's pretty rare. The hair itself looked good but the way it was placed on the head, that just wasn't right...
I have a feeling that if Smoke ever returns he won't be sporting long grey hair anymore. That design element was quite divisive among the MK fans, just like the mummy MKX Ermac.

The way I envision it they'd make Smoke's default costume more like a ninja costume with hood and mask and all. But his alternate costume(s) might look different and his hair would definitely be visible. Shorter and covering his face less, or longer and in a ponytail/braid. The one thing I don't see returning at all is his shoulder length hair with a side parting.
