Description
TOTAL HOURS: approx. 7hTOOLS: Pencil, Tablet, Photoshop
Just an experiment that was finished last week. I wanted to play around with water effect, although it didn't turn out so well (according to the people that I've shown previously). The female warrior is someone that I just made up at the time. She was cast into a lake after losing her life in a battle.

Thank you! I'm still trying to figure out Photoshop too, I tried reading some of the tutorials posted at dA and yeah, I can't do it like those who are absolutely AMAZING with the program. Of course, practice is needed, but I don't have that patience...

Lol! Are you kidding? I have no patience when it comes to this. That's why I have a lot of incomplete artworks .

7 hours? Wow you get a lot done in such a short amount of time! I am usually still stumbling around with the background or basic colors. This is so nice with such a limited palette. Love the reds and how you seem to get it to glimmer and shine on the material. Nice work as usual!

Thank you! Yeah, I couldn't even believe it myself when I realized I only worked on this for 5.5 hours (+1.5 with sketching). I think it's because I didn't 'zoom' in to work on the details like most of the other ones. And I think the limited palette helped too.... usually I'd be taking a while to choose colours also .

that is amazing for such a short lenght of time...i spent more time than that just mulling stuff over in my head..i like the ideal of a limited pallet and have been trying to limit mine also and i have had this recent fascination with the effects of light and water..i've been looking over some of the Miyazaki videos and i'm fascinated by some of the things he does with some of the most simple subjects...like water lapping on a shore or a rain puddle...how could you get away without zooming...most impressed..i feel so unworthy now...(pulls out ceremonial sepuku knife and prepares for harikari)...but wait i can't ..my cats in my lap and i don't want to wake her...maybe later ...if i don't forget...peace

Lol, I hope you DID forget. And I remember you also used a limited palette of blue colours for one of your piece. That turned out really well. Welll, I zoomed in only when doing the hair and some parts of the sword. Funny that you mentioned Miyazaki... I watched "Howl's Moving Castle" around that time. That man is a genius.

i just watched "Howls Moving Castle"..i've tried to find as many of his films as i can lay my hands on...and i agree he is a genius ..don't think he can be praised enough ...you the first person i've talked to who has seen it so let me ask you this...doesn't Howl look like he could of stepped out of one of Kezor's paintings...one of her bishouen collection?..thats the first thing i thought of when he first appeared...peace

Lol! Yeah he does come to think of it! Very interesting.
I've been trying to collect all of his work for a while now too. I love the subtle things he does and his works are so original. You're right, he's not praised enough.

i like the touchs of the prawn(right word?) the little greyfish creature and the lilly pads floating above her...the patterns of light passing through water...a feeling of her being suspended or emerging from darkness...i would be interested in seeing the other versions especially the blue..sort of reminds me of the bit in Lord of the Rings where Frodo is passing through the marsh with all the corpses lying just beneath the surface...what was your mood when you painted this if i may ask?...makes me feel lonely or turned in upon myself...but maybe i'm overthinking again...still excellent as usual...peace

Thank you! The blue version wasn't actually that good, it looked a bit too dull. I was making the decision between this and the 'gold' one. Lol, that part with Frodo was AWESOME, and someone else mentioned it too. Ah, you're going somewhere with this work. I was in a 'defeated' and upset mood at the time so I guess in a way, it was reflecting me losing my 'battle' with stress and work. Thanks for the by the way

Lol!! Yeah, I do want and need a cat. Actually, any pet is fine. And I wouldn't care what other people would say too, just as long as my cat likes me, lol. I can't believe you have 7, Kip! How do you ever manage?

Thanks!! I actually had two other versions that are yellow and blue. But I chose the red one because it just corresponded with the emotion that I was going for.

Thats incredible.
The light, emotion, and textures are amazing.
To me the robes almost seem like liquid!
I like it if you can't tell
