Hi guys! Long time no see! I have been drawing intermittently, but I haven't been uploading them much on DA. How is everyone?Β
As with many of you, I'm very very tremendously immensely irrationally excited about the upcoming movie!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH so much so that it's inspired me to make a new mini comic!
Despite Simba being a bit jealous of not being able to star in it (you're not live action, Simba) and thinking he'll do a better job, I'm sure he's just as excited as the rest of us! Right, Simba?

For sure! I know it'll be worth watching no matter what, it's super beautiful and it seems from the trailer they're trying really hard to mirror details from the original while putting their own spin on things.

I'm quite excited for the remake, but definitely think the og will always be the true iconic one, though that's honestly just a given. XD That being said, it'll be cool to see how the remake runs everything. Honestly everyone is all huffy about Scar's look but thing is beyond keeping to a more realistic look I think how they portrayed him works wonderfully. I know they didn't actually go this in depth about it, but regardless his mane resembles the shorter, scruffier mane seen in Tsavo locale males which are actually known to be one of the most aggressive localities of African lions which essentially works beautifully for Scar seeing as he's the bad guy.

Is that right about those male lions?Β I didn't know. That's quite clever. I like his ripped ear design. He also looks so malnourished. I think it would have been cool if he was a little bit darker in colour like in the original though.

Yep. Tsavo lions are iconic for their scruffy, shorter manes in the males that only ever grow to about the length of an adolescent male on average and their incredibly aggressive natures which has been suggested to be linked to higher than average testosterone levels compared to lions elsewhere in Africa.
Yeah, it works quite well. Plus it sticks to canon since in the original movie it was shown Scar was physically pretty weak and so had to be witty, not strong. Plus being suggested he didn't exactly eat as much as the others generally, it works well keeping to that more malnourished state. Also agreed on darker color. While brown would be out of the question at least a darker shade of the normal tawny coat would work just fine, alongside having a darker mane versus what seemed to be a more light one in the trailer.
