This is an SU oc of sorts lol. I really liked Spinel when I watched the Steven Universe movie, I over all thought she was a great character. But I kinda had a thought, what if it took multiple tries for the Diamonds to make a Spinel who's "cut is perfect"? Then after a few failed designs I came up with this! An off- cut Spinel. A few of the design choices I decided on were inspired by the fact that an off- cut gemstone looks less uniform. So I made this Spinel a bit less uniform as well, small choices like lower, slightly uneven pig tails (twin buns?? idk what to call them), and mismatched leggings and other details on her outfit. I really like her outfit, I think I did a good job adding a few more colors than cannon Spinel's scheme contained without making it look too hectic or busy.

Now on to her backstory! Off-Cut (OC) Spinel was one of the gems produced from the 2 batches of Spinels the Diamonds made before achieving cannon Spinel. There were two batches of Spinels made, and each batch consisted of six gems. All of the six Spinels from the first batch emerged with defects and were shattered, however two from the second batch were kept. Cannon Spinel and OC Spinel. Cannon Spinel was gifted to Pink, while OC Spinel was used to help set up the balls the Diamonds would occasionally have in the palace, and was instructed to do her work in secret. However once Pink fled, faking her shattering, the Diamonds no longer had any balls, and there for no longer had any use for OC Spinel. The Diamonds had planned to shatter OC Spinel, but she fled using a warp pad. After this event OC Spinel continued to flee from one colony to another, before eventually making her way to Earth. Where she now spends her days mostly hiding in the kindergarten.
