Description
Name: Bowerman's Raised on Shotguns "Dutch"

Age: Young Adult (3 years)
Orientation: Heterosexual
Breed: Bloodhound (French import lines from New Orleans)
Status: Intact
Height: 27" @ withers
Weight: 100 lbs conditioned
Build: Often mistaken for a Black and Tan Coonhound because of his general lack of excessive wrinkles and colouration, Dutch is the working version of a well known trailing breed. Don't be fool, he DOES have a lot of loose skin but just enough to catch all those scents. He's tall and appears thick but not barreled. His tail is well feathered to match his dense coat. Eyes are soft and warm, often described as a playful element to that old man face.

+++ Determined & Enthusiastic +++
Some would describe Dutch has energetically dauntless, there has been little to stop this male from going forward in his tasks and life generally. If you've been having a hardship and the quest is something that this black and tan male can be helpful with, he's your absolute best bet to get the job done. Usually a spring in his wobbly gait (or is that just the wrinkles wiggling around?), this bloodhound is happy go lucky when everything is kosher.
=== Meddling & Mentally Lackadaisical ===
As you would imagine a Bloodhound would act, Dutch is.. well.. nosey, for a lack of a better word. He's investagatory and curious, mostly about others' intentions and their daily activities; what drives them and what repels them. Unfortunately at times he can be quite tone deaf and social cues sometimes go right over his wrinkly head, which can get him in to some hot water or even out of that same water. How? Because more often than not, he is mentally lazy or at least seems to be, many take this as doofiness without ill will due to his breed.. however it's just a simple combination of being a little too inquisitive and a little too simple.
--- Single-Minded & Petulant ---
Remember when we said he was "your absolute best bet to get the job done"? Yeah, that comes at a price. Dutch is very one-task orientated and fills the stereotypical 'man mind' role well; his attention span only allows for a couple tasks at a time (usually one). For most instances this is a great trait, including his tracking and trailing line of work however in social situations and holding relationships he's often forgetful and immerses himself in his work load, putting his friends at the time on the back burner. He'd be quick to temper if you asked him "why have you been ignoring me?" while on the job. Don't you understand his work is very important?
Pre-Group History:
Born to a renown and well aged (almost 13) Louisiana state penitentiary man trailing dam owned by a man who homed himself out of the French Quarter in New Orleans, and sired out of a French imported search and rescue Bardolynn line throwback male, Dutch and his small litter of three have a name to live up to. His breeder, Jason Bowerman, was what everyone would call 'old money' to Dutch's understanding and certainly lived up to the ripe age of "old", dying at age 82. Bowerman Senior was a heavy handed man in his training, handling, and all around ways of life, passing these traits on to his son, Jack (Bowerman).
Dutch spent his early life up until about two years old being handled by an aging, somewhat crippled, and unforgiving Bowerman Senior, who instilled in him that finding the end of the trail by scent was always to be the goal, no matter the cost. As a diligent worker and quick learner, this male adapted within weeks of training that disobedience and failure to perform were not options to survive, nor was giving up an option - only excellence. By tale, Jason was heard to have ran his dogs on jenny mills until their paws would bleed trailing scent hung in front of them.. Dutch can attest that they are in fact not tales.
Somewhere in the last eight months Bowerman Senior took him out to work noticeably less, had a terrible cough that produced blood that Dutch could smell but never saw, and when his somewhere close to 30 year old son started picking up the slack occasionally, the male new something had dire happened.
Smelling the death in the room growing was impossible to notice to Dutch's honed nose, one day permeating out to the kennel yard, he knew that scent all too well. From that day on, Dutch never saw Bowerman Senior again and Jack was always at the end of his lead and boy.. have they had their troubles even though "Junior" is a reasonably experienced handler.
Jack moved the pair to the city of Canidale looking for some sort of investment with daddy's money even though he wanted to get away from Jason's memory, whether or not that will be a success will have to unravel itself in time.
