Thats right. Aipom is one of those Pokemon I like better than it's own evolved form. There is a reason for that.

1) Aipom is an adorable and original concept of Pokemon. The cute smile based on cymbal monkey toys makes for an epic combo with that one hand attached to the tail that I always found visually appealing. Ambipom, on the other hand, is an unoriginal concept that does nothing for Aipom except add now phallic tail fingers, an extra hand and a bent nose. A taller, uglier Aipom with two hand tails isn't an evolved form design and if it is, then it's a lazy and unappealing design. If Aipom isn't a joy to look at, then Ambipom really REALLY isn't a joy to look at.

2) Ambipom is a wimp in it's battle class and Aipom is not. Aipom, being an unevolved and previous just a novelty Pokemon, at least has a reason to be weak. Plus, an Evolite, Skill Link and Fury Swipes can at least make Aipom a beast in Little Cup. Ambipom, on the other hand, has shitty defenses, no resistances and no STABed type advantage moves. The most Ambipom can do is Fake Out with Technician before any old Brick Breaker (STABed or not) can OHKO Ambipom. Ambipom has no excuse to be as useless as he is, but the fact of the matter is that he just is.
It goes without saying, but Ambipom is a the laughing stock of the fully evolved Metagame (Along with Ledian, Seaking and Kricketune).

So, yeah, Aipom>Ambipom. If I had to pick any Pokemon to prefer over it's evolved form, it would definitely have to be Aipom.
