Some of you may be aware from a few of my past uploads that I've been piecing together a story that I plan to illustrate when my skills end up going super saiyan. What's a fantasy story without some armoured up knight type dude. This guards role in the story is essentially protecting a few powerful families and their council chambers. They have no real motives other than to guard. The concept is inspired by the Swiss guard of the Vatican and they'll be referred to as a Golganaut coz its a bad ass sounding name.I've worked out most of the aspects for this character, such as its mythos and role in the story but I'm really wanting to push this one far so it can double as a solid folio piece.
The style I've sketched it in was inspired by this vid [link] So much fun to draw in this approach and work only in tonal value. Definitely going to do more like this.

The back story should be illustrated all in this style man. It's got that smokey recollection feel to it. I really dig the bold lines and wispy shading. I vote for more of it.

That's actually not a bad idea, there'll be a few back stories and side stories as well. Definitely get what you mean with the smokey recollection feel, you could be on to a winner. I'm gonna try and do one or two of these type of sketches a day, good a practice and something for the folio!!

Haha can't I've ever attempted this style before or anything similar to it, but it is fun and time saving if you wanna get an idea out of your head. Golganaut is my own little thing, basically just a combination of the words golgatha and juggernaut, it has to sound mildly intimidating

Now THAT is a guard I wouldn't want to tangle with. Though I must admit, he seems rather heavily armored in some locations and rather, er, minimally armored in others.

Lol well he is missing some crucial pieces to a full set of armor but the design is based off the Swiss Guard and they've only got chest armour. The mythos behind this character is that they're advanced fighters and can only graduate to become what they are through having shown excellence with weapon and magic handling, or at least thats what I've come up with so far.

not really worrying about detail or obsessing over little things is kinda liberating. just being free and rough
