Entry for "best friends" contest. While I was painting I've come to love those two guys. I'm currently thinking of doing a comic with them as main characters if I find the time to do so

There is something simply endearing about this piece, despite the dark color scheme. The little girl reminds us all of what we did ourselves when we were home alone as children.
The minor detailsβthe tears in the wallpaper, the drooping flower, the spider-web in the cornerβdo not detract from the subject, but by way of painting skills, actually move the viewerβs eye toward the center focus. The little hints of bright color here and there shine through for those quirky points of interest all along the way. The small things create the whole scene and as a whole, the piece is wonderfully composed.

Remember how I often critique, that you spend too much time on specific details of a picture, but don't pay enough attention to its impact as whole? - Well, that's not the case here. Everything seems to be painted in the same style and comes together really well. Interesting concept, as well. I like it.
