I wanted to give C.L and Kei some privacy for this pic, so I focused on Cher Ami. C.L and Kei is hiding behind her somewhere

Kei packed her bag with plenty of miscellaneous belongings. She had told her mother that she would sleep over at Josephine’s, as they were having a slumber party with some other girls from the stable. She threw in a flashlight and an extra blanket just to be on the safe side before she closed the zipper and set off.

She relaxed on the gravel road while she looked down at the ground. The backpack was full of things that she considered necessary for this night. She was nervous about how it would be, but the way that she would need to go was not long. It would take a maximum of twenty minutes to reach the meeting place, which meant that she had plenty of time to lose herself in her imagination and let it flow through her thoughts.

Her thoughts vanished when she heard a voice around the bend. It was a velvety female voice that purred softly in her ear. Cher Ami. Hers was a voice that would mesmerize and soothe any soul at any time. Kei started running along the narrow road and soon she saw the dark figures of a black horse, a small foal and a man. Cher looked at Kei as she closed in with a proud look. In the saddle sat C.L, who stretched out a hand for Kei. She took a firm grip of his hand and pulled herself up. She thanked her lucky star that Cher Ami wasn’t very tall... Because then she might have never managed to get on. "It is not the size of the horse but the size of its heart that matters…”
Cher Ami snorted irritably, with a touch of irony going to Kei's mind.
Kei smiled in embarrassment when realizing the mare had heard her thoughts.
C.L countered with a grin,"If a small thing has the power to make you angry, does that not indicate something about your size?”
The mare purred, amused, "Touché!" as she set off in an eager trot, her foal chasing her side in a lively gallop.

The sun was setting over the landscape this beautiful autumn evening. It was still warm so it would not be any problem sleeping outside. Kei had expected that C.L would make up a fire but he didn’t. He did release Cher Ami from her harness and let her roam free in the quiet glade with her foal roaming around her legs. He placed the tack on the ground near an old oak, then leaned against the tree’s side and slid slowly down. Kei stood, her arms crossed, as she gazed at the two horses. Little Verveine had lay down before Cher Ami and seemed to make herself comfortable for the evening. The black mare stood, protecting her treasure.

This was a beautiful sight. C.L looked at the three with a relaxed gaze as he breathed quietly. The wind played in Kei's hair, making her brush it from her face, before sweeping ahead and dancing a waltz with Cher Ami's mane. Kei turned around and looked at C.L. She smiled in embarrassment when she discovered that he’d been looking at her. He lowered his gaze, but continued to watch as she walked up to him and sat down next to the saddle. She leaned on the side of it while she supported her head with her hand. This position really highlighted her form, but C.L managed to tear away his gaze from her.

The evening had been so nice, but had slowly become a dark night with threatening rain clouds high above. It didn’t take long before they felt the first raindrops touch their skin. Cher Ami and Verveine had moved from the open glade and into a secure place underneath a large tree in which they would be safe from the rain.

"You’re cold." C.L looked at Kei with a flickering gaze.
"No, I'm fine."
"You’re freezing," he said.
Kei sat and shivered, although she had a blanket wrapped around her.
"Come here and warm yourself." He opened his arms and offered himself as a heating source. Kei was not difficult to persuade. She heaved up and moved across the little bit that existed between them. She sat down and leaned against his body. He closed his arms around her in a protective barrier, an impregnable wall. Kei, however, shook every now and then when she couldn’t control the cold. C.L was used to the cold and this temperature was not enough to make him freeze. He tried to warm her, but she did not seem to get any warmer. He hesitated for a bit, but finally asked; "May I?"

Kei nodded, her teeth chattering. C.L pulled back and released Kei from the blanket. He smoothed it out on the ground gently, careful that there was no hard or sharp areas underneath that could hurt her. He pointed to the blanket and told her to lay down on it. She did so without any protest. She was quite desperate to get warm at this point.
"Could we not have done this another night with better weather?" She laughed between her teeth. C.L admired her humor at the situation and smiled at her, though he shook his head about her sense of humor during this time. He sat down by her feet and watched her anxiously.
"Don’t move… And don’t… Be afraid." Kei laughed half-heartedly as an acceptance. C.L sighed, then crept closer to her. He placed himself gently on top of her. He could hear her heart surging like a tambourine, while his own heart beat a slow pace, like a distant drum.

Over by the big trees, Verveine slept deeply between her mother's legs. Cher Ami stood with lowered head with a relaxed hanging lip. She felt C.L's contact fade away into the distance, until he had left her all alone in the world. She could only hear her thoughts now, his were hidden from her behind a solid and distanced barrier.

Kei felt her heart race as its rate increased. C.L’s heavy body rested on top of her while she hid her face underneath his neck and throat. His breath made her neck hairs stand straight up. He was so heavy on top of her, yet so light. He covered her whole body and his warmth seeped into her, she was no longer cold. His breathing was calm, as if he was sleeping, but she knew very well that he was not. She looked up into the foliage of the big tree, small raindrops penetrated through the protective net and streamed down C.L's warm body.

Her scent. Her black hair. Her heartbeat.

C.L was trying not to think about it but it was impossible in this kind of situation. She was so close. He felt her stop shaking, and now she lay quietly. He lifted his head from her neck and looked down at her. Her cheeks were blood stained and her eyes flickered through his blue eyes. He brushed a string of hair from her check. He had managed to warm her up, finally, so he began pulling himself away.

Surprisingly, Kei pulled him close again with a firm grip around his neck. He gave her a very puzzled look.
"Chevalle…" she whispered silently, the name barely floating from her lips. This confused him, this first time he had ever heard her say his real name. Her grip around his neck pulled him closer inch by inch. He tried to resist but failed. They were only inches apart now. Kei pulled gently, and he allowed her. Their lips met, uniting in a light kiss. C.L's heart, which had been holding firmly, now bolted like a locomotive charging for new grounds. The kiss became more intense, then passionate. He held her firmly between his hands, tangled her hair between his fingers, completely ignored the walls that were about to collapse around him. Her hand around his neck moved to his chest so the only thing that kept him near now was the magnetism, like two magnets attracting to each other. He knew what he wanted... He wanted her... Forever.

Kei was deep within the moment. C.L held her tight and kissed her tenderly. She was quite lost within that moment when C.L pulled slightly back and looked down at her. She observed him, a worried expression on her features because the moment was gone. He looked at her and with an unfamiliar stutter he whispered in her mind.

”I l-lo-ove you…”
