Description
Kei was working Apokalyps (Rosendal's only Rosendaler stallion) on a circle over some bars, training up his agility and smoothness in his movements. He worked nicely, though it was easy to see that he got bored fast. At the beginning he had high elevation in his limbs, but after ten minutes he knocked his hooves into the low bars with his hooves and he snorted tiredly each time he tapped them.Sara was observing the training from outside of the arena, hanging slightly over the fence to get a good view. She had followed Kei's and Apokalyps training for several weeks now and they did make progress. Kalle was supposed to be Kei's first horse in the future to compete and show, but he needed a bit more time before being ready to be presented for the equestrian world.
"Okay, Good Kei. Try to take the jump now." commanded Sara after a little while.
Kei nodded and turned out to the corners and set of in a canter, in the direction of the jump. When Kalle saw it coming, he threw his head up, eager to take it on, and he almost started cantering on the spot.
"Abort!" shouted Sara "Turn him away!" Kei struggled but managed to turn him away from the jump just before he was about to leap over it.
"What was wrong?" cried Kei as she passed her trainer.
"He is to eager. I want him to be calm and take the jump just so. Calmly. Not eager and high like a yearling!" She pointed to the jump. "Just before the jump, make a eight. Ride one circle in one direction and then another in the other direction. A eight before you take on the jump. Do that until he takes the jump calmly. And in trot. Of you go."
Kei obeyed and returned to the jump in a collected trot and as soon as Kalle saw the jump he tried to canter but Kei managed to keep him at his pace and they trotted (though a bit fast but they trotted) in a eight before the jump. When they had ended their eight, they faced the jump and Kalle took off in a trot, leaped over nicely and landed in a canter. Kei gave him some reins in the landing but collected him quickly so he didn't start to galloping.
"Good! Very good." Sara sounded pleased. "Now do that a couple of times before you jump again without the eight."
Kei did as Sara had said and after several exercises with the eight, she and Apokalyps managed to trot towards the jump and jump it without the need of the eight in a steady and calm canter.

His markings and personality really make him much more unique than any horse anyone could design
