Description
What I would give to see an orca in real life... I have searched through europe to find places where you can encounter with orcasAnother orca picture. The reference for this drawing was also from shamu cam from the training session, when two of the orcas jumped at the same time, very beautiful to see
I like how the bubbles turned out here, and the lightning... oh, and the orcas too
Did you know, that in Swedish, orcas have the name SpΓ€ckhuggare, which litterly means, Lard-Cutter

If you want to see orcas in Europe you can go to Norway and Shetland (Scotland). Seeing them wild and free is best!
Beautiful image by the way!

Whatever you do, when you go to 'hunt these orcas down', don't go to a sealife centre, go see them in the wild. They're spectacular out there, and you can see their happiness in the way they jump and swim. It might even be a fleeting glance, but its better than seeing them, or even purchasing a ticket at somewhere like Seaworld, where all their 'acts' are so regimented and forced, feel sorry for Shamu, they can't even dive this deep in the prision tanks that they're kept in. But you can see them in so many places in the wild, and even dive with them, I have in Scotland and it was just incredible! And this picture reminds me of that, there was a mother and her calf swimming round her because he was so excited! Beautiful work

I want to see them wild too The reason I want to see them in captivity is to take pictures of the underneath the surface. But I would sure enjoy it more to see free orcas

I can see where your coming from, as for Photographic opportunities, it would be perfect, but at the same time, I'm very against keeping dolphins and whales in captivity when they're are such large animals, being made to perform tricks for the publics amusement, so am highly against Seaworld and any other 'swim with dolphins' programmes etc. Where abouts do you live? If you get the opportunity to go to somewhere like Scotland, or Norway, do go see them out there, even though they can be scary things too! I just watched a programme on the BBC of a pod of killers drowning a grey whale calf, these are seriously animals you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of!
