Description
Fourteen hours, fourteen views. But that's okay. This is my final project for the year. I didn't get to put as much detail into it as I wanted to (the top is very vague), but I ran out of time. Oil paint, somewhere between ten and twenty hours. If you can guess which nebula it is, you can get an internet cookie.
Also, I am aware that due to the petri dish it should be called "Nature's Experiment", but "Imagination" just sounds better.

Cool work! The splashes of peach/orange look nice against all that blue. It made me think of an oily soap bubble when I first saw it! Good job

Silly lack of being able to use critique option due to lack of subscription, mumble mumble...
Not bad indeed I'd say. A nebula eh? Hm, can't say which one it is, because I don't know too much in particular about nebulae. Shame on me and stuff.
Hm, may I ask what the significance of the petri-dish is? The circle doesn't seem to form any boundary for the celestial subject. Did you mean that, since it was going to be called Nature's Experiment, that it was supposed to feel as though it were a controlled creation of nature, or otherwise?
Art wise, I'd say this is pretty cool stuff, I do have to say I like the dark blues and purples. The really bright areas also draw attention right on too them, which again is pretty cool. The peach colors though, I wonder about as well. Are they the real colors in that specific nebula? And if not, what is the significance of such significantly different hues?
Well done I'd say, simple yet thought provoking. I hope your final assignment went well!

The nebula was supposed to be exploding out of the petri dish. At the last moment I told my teacher that the big brushstrokes were supposed to look less controlled, because within the petri dish it was a "controlled creation of nature" since he wouldn't get off my back about it. I despise people telling me what to do with my art. I don't mind critique, but telling me to change major details, or telling me I have to have a reason, really rubs me the wrong way.
The peach colors are really there, yes. I didn't do such a good job of blending them in because I was very sick during two of the classes and missed out on two extra hours of work. My paint kept drying between visits.

Yeah, it can be kind of a pain. And despite being sick, I'd say you did a pretty decent job with your work.

I have it on the tip of my tongue! don't you dare tell me! Nice work BTW, you still amaze me with your ever-abundant creations of art that I don't think of first. :/

This kind of reminds me of the Earthbound symbol from Smash Bros. for some reason. But I still like it! Unfortunately I am not trained in the stars like you so I could never guess what the nebula is haha.
I'm sure you'll ace your final with this in any case.
