this one was finished on January '08!
I was allowed (
) to visit and for that I made her this little present (also because I visited her one day after her birthday
)I like the picture, although it's not the best of my fanarts, but I love the position of both and how Ash's looking at us

*is sad that Kasumi/Misty hasn't had a cameo in FOUR YEARS and all her hints with Satoshi/Ash might seem to be for naught, all because of how the show is action-focused, as opposed to focus on relationships and especially on the Sato/Kasu relationship front (which should be important, considering all the original moments, dubbed or not, and the symbolic importance of both Misty's hankercheif and the Misty lure that our loveable dunce is possessive of)*

What saddens me is that Satoshi/Ash hasn't at least contacted Kasumi/Misty within those years and regarding fanfics, even though I don't mind decent fanfics between the two (even adult ones), most have Ash so dense that he breaks Misty's heart, have Misty getting with some almost rapist-like jerk out of depression over losing Ash, have Misty considering suicide, or what have you. It angers and saddens me, because Misty and Ash shouldn't be written that way!

The thing is...Ash doesn't have the bond with May and Dawn that he has had with Misty. I mean, even though Brock, Tracey, and now even May have left the show at times, it is Misty whom he carries in his heart via her hankercheif and that special lure he's possessive of.

That's good. I need a pick-me-up after reading all those seemingly depressing fanfics that--although happy in the end--end up treating our favorite tomboyish redhead and loveable dunce like garbage by making them either treat the younger generations--May, Max, Dawn, et al--as nobodies, making them practically hate each other due to the seperation, making them wind up with people who abuse and--in some (adult) fics--rape them (often these would be original characters or people from their past like Gary, Rudy, or whomever), making their personalities do complete 180 degree turns (ex: Misty being suicidal and Ash being somewhat callous to her predicament), making them have relationships with Pokemon (beastiality...no thanks), or various other things that demean the characters or the pairing, despite claiming to be AAML fics.
I don't want to say that I'm innocent because I am an adult, but my mind tends to block off anything that I feel would hurt my inner child. Intercourse--to the extent to which it is done by a loving, caring hand & where it is the kind that isn't just about the act, but about the underlying feelings that lead to the passionate moments--is okay, but overdoing it is a little much or making it so one of our faves is suffering from being in an abusive relationship burns me up inside.
And unfortunately, that's all I get from fics of my favorite Poke' pairing that targeted to my age level and it both saddens and angers me that people cannot get it that not every fic has to involve abuse, constant sex, or repeated use of character bashing.
I just want a wholesome fic that has the romance we've come to love that could lead to a passionate scene to the discretion of the author (that is, the romance in a loving fashion could lead to the love-making [notice that I say love-making, not graphic gratuious raw sex]), as opposed to fics that take apart the characters and the pairing in a hurtful way.

really - although I'm 25 I don't want sex in every fanfiction I read...
well - I don't have many time at the moment to read fanfictions of Ash and Misty - so I don't have such a problem!
but don't forget - there are many fans of Ash and Misty who wants the romantic part of AaMl, not the adult sexuell part T_T°
well - I understand that you don't want such scenes, for me AaMl is my neverending romantic ship, with the love which will never ends awww - I know that it's just a phantasie in that times - but just in that times we NEED SOMETHING who is that strong - where we can believe on!! that's so important (nya for me ^////^ I just want to speak of my feelings about AaMl... )
please cary your feelings for Ash and Misty deep in your heart - so you always know for yourself that they are THE couple :3
and they are meant for each other!
(and if the producers choose another way than ignore the Anime T_T° the producers just want to make money - all what they look for is to sell the games and don't see the relationships between the main characters...
and you're right - Misty will always be a special person for Ash - she was the very first person Ash met and you're right with the things about the lure and the hankerchief

Oh, don't misunderstand me. I do not mind the intercourse at all when the care, compassion, and actual love is a part of it, but when it's just raw sex for sex's sake alone, then I have an issue, because I feel as though any relationship--whether it be fictional or in reality--needs to have that bond of closeness and love that leads to the passion, instead of being just sex for sex's sake, which is--for the most part, IMHO--exploitation of one's own body and that of another human being.

Speaking one's feelings is okay. It's going overboard that could pose a problem.

And it hurts me to see that even our own fellow fans sometimes cannot see that and only see the characters for what the surface shows. For me, you need to look beyond the surface and probe deep within a character's psyche in order to fully understand the character in order for them to bring forth possible memories of real-life situations you yourself have faced, thereby making the character relatable to you as audience participant.

Some is okay. Like I said, if the actual compassion, care, and love is there, intercourse is alright. It's when it is just sex for sex's sake alone that causes me problems.

Seriously, you would think that fans of the pairing wouldn't be harsh towards either Ash or Misty, because AAML is Ash & Misty together romantically-speaking from a fan perspective.

I know there are bunch of Pokeshipping/AAML fans a lot of places, especially the small group of friends you and other users--like AshMistyPikachu and others--have assembled here on DA. We all just need to stick together.

Yeah, but out of all the girls, Misty's been with Ash the longest and knows his personality better.

Of course. Their bond can never be broken, regardless of whether they end up with each other--which all fans of them together as a pairing hope--or not.

Well, let's not forget that the show is intended for smaller audiences and is first and foremost an action-based show. The relationships are just nice side additions put in so people can relate to the characters more.

I don't mind Ash. Though again, I am a guy and I can thus, relate to Ash more, but even then, I don't mind him much. What I do mind is his ignoring Misty for FOUR YEARS without not as much as a phone call, email, or what have you. Seperation for FOUR YEARS without contact? That's a little much, IMHO.

I think that's part of the Anime - please note that one episode is just 20 minutes - there is so much time of their travels who are not shown in the episodes - I think Ash often thinks on Misty back - well it's his dream to be a pokémon master so he has to go T////T
but I think he often thinks on Misty - and surely - Misty in the gym often thinks on him T//T
that's for sure - for me >o<
I wrote a fanfiction last year about when they splitted up - and maybe you remember that there is a time change, when they splitted up and than we see in the episode that Ash's in his mothers house the next day...
I wrote the time between these two scenes - and in that time Misty reride to Ash again to say him good-bye again - just for him and so on - and in that scenes I wrote that both shows a lil' bit his feelings for each other and they promise each other that they will wait for them T///T
and that Ash will come back some day - and Mistys waits till than
(I know that's not the truth in the anime but for me that's MY TRUTH and it makes me happy :3 )
we have to think about our fantasies and that they are meant for each other - and don#t think any about the anime T_T°
