Description
Somewhere, in the midst of a multiverse full of challenges and confrontation, is a quiet, carefree world known as Animal Crossing. This world, unlike many that surround it, does not focus on fighting or competition, but instead on collecting, decorating one's home, helping others, and forming friendships with one's neighbors. There are no real villains, no real enemies, not even a real score or points. Just a simple, quiet game world devoted to enjoying life.

For these reasons, they thought it would be an easy takeover. But they were wrong.

When the Subspace Army arrived in Smashville, the one small town standing between them and the rest of that quiet world, all was silent. Then, from some nearby trees, came a cry in a language that was foreign, yet easily understood:

"Now!!!"

And then, they came. Bearing slingshots, nets, fishing rods, shovels, the animal villagers came from the trees to defend their homeland. And from the head of the pack, with an axe gripped tightly in his hands,  came a young human villager, the seeming leader of the onslaught. Unlike the others, who seemed unsure in their tactics, he fought with a precision and ferocity that was unexpected by the army. He swung his axe knowingly, silently judging each move he made, and, when they tried to throw a projectile at him, he simply- grabbed it, and threw it right back.

He fought not from a desire to be recognized for his skill. He fought not for glory or praise.  He fought not knowing that his actions now would earn him a place in the roster of that fighting tournament he so adored, the one that had first alerted him to this oncoming danger. No...he fought for his world. His world, and all it stood for: the collecting, the decorating, the friendships... He fought for a passion to protect this world he loved, a passion that ignited a similar one in his neighbors and friends. If someone was trying to capture this world, trying to destroy everything they held so dear, then...well, they weren't going to allow that without a fight.

Okay, I should probably explain.

I am a fan of many things, and with those fandoms often come many headcanons. Two of those things that fall into that category are Super Smash Bros. and Animal Crossing. In the case of Smash Bros., a good chunk of those headcanons relate to the Subspace Emissary mode from Brawl. Basically, it's my personal belief that the whole reason Tabuu (the main villain from that mode) wanted to destroy the "world of trophies" in the first place, is because said world is connected to all the other worlds of Nintendo, of which Tabuu wishes to conquer and remake in his own image. This is because, (again, headcanon) all the Smash fighters are actually the real deal, albeit with a different "lives" system than in their original games to keep them from actually dying (because, ya know, that would be really bad), and they participate in this fighting tournament out of sport and a desire to bring the various Nintendo universes/worlds together in friendly competition (kinda like the Olympics, but, you know, with explosions). The Adventure mode was meant to be a sort of prelude to the tournament itself, but then Tabuu used it to put the multiverse in danger, and that's why there's no real Adventure mode in Smash 4.

Got all that? Okay, good.

So this little project was meant to show one of the invasions by the Subspace army that was happening between the first confrontation with Tabuu and the final stand against him, on a seemingly unassuming universe... unfortunately for them, Smashville's resident human Villager is a huge fan of the Smash bros tournament, and was not about to let an evil army just take over his universe...

This project is one of my largest digital projects to date, with the work being spanned out across four days. I hope you guys like it!
