I'm glad you picked up on that! This will come up much much later but it's actually a super important point. Foxes (and certain other creatures) don't care whether or not you 'feel' respectful, as long as you act like you do! It's all about the appearances and formalities. Just making the effort to pretend to be polite is meaningful
