Absolutely gorgeous work! The balance between light and darkness is great and the colour palette works perfectly in it.
I wish I'd learn from you how to choose which parts in a piece need detailing and what is better when left more vague.

Haha, well sometimes being lazy makes better pictures than one completely full of detail where there's no place for eye to rest.
That's a good point to mainly focus on detailing the most important parts.

I just can't take my eyes off this!
I expecially love the contrast between the colors. The gold works beautifully with the dark background and the characters skincolor and the red piece of fabric really points out his reddish eyes.
His waving cloak and all the coins and white dots (I'm not sure how to call these...are they coins, too?) flying around create such a dramatic feeling, which is is increased even more by the fierce and almost bitter expression of the character himself.
All in all I really adore the character design and the atmosphere in this piece. Very well done!

I love how the few colours strike out on the muted palette. But most of all, that fierce expression is telling a story about the character. And this is awesome.
