Prelude:

Fang, the lovely Goddess of the Jungle, has fought many foes and beasts to maintain the balance and existence of her home. She has fought many challenges and overcame them, and met new people and strangers, even had children with some important people in her life; though it seems that she could never truly be with them, as she was a goddess of the jungle. Of course, everyone has to start from somewhere, even Fang.

The Fang that you know is five-hundred years old (approximately), though appearance-wise shows her to be in her early thirties. Today, we'll take you back in time to when Fang was 'young', so to say. We will be travelling to a time when Fang was just starting her duties as the goddess of the jungle. And one of her first big perils.

Let us see where it takes us? Shall we?

------------------------------------
Long ago...

It was a new day in the jungle. Life continued on its neverending cycle, as animals and humans went about their daily lives. The same could be said for a young woman, who recently took up the responsibilities held by her mother of maintaining the jungle. Now, at first glance, one would entirely be confused by this woman; if they did not know better. This woman was twenty-three years of age, only being an adult for a few years. She was certainly beautiful to behold, with a figure that would fit the phrase "if lookes could kill". Of course, one might wonder, how exactly could this beautiful human protect the jungle and maintaining balance while not getting killed in the process? Sure, she could have the smarts, but would that be enough when facing threats stronger than a human of her stature?

Well, the answer to that question is this: she is not human. She was a deity, and the newly annointed Goddess of the Jungle. Her name was Fang and had more to show than just beauty. She had the strength of a deity, great knowledge of the jungle and immortality. Her body was ageless and indestructible so she could never die. Of course, these things do not equal invincibility, but they are enough to give Fang the edge when it comes to her new role.

Now, Fang was not always the Goddess of the Jungle. Her predecessor was her own mother: Gaia. One day though, Gaia disappeared fighting an unknown threat, leaving the jungle without a protector. This meant that someone needed to step up to the plate and maintain the duties that Gaia once had. That would fall to Fang. Of course, Fang was young and inexperienced so she could not do everything on her own. Fortunately, she was not alone, for she had two sisters as well (both of whom are also daughters of Gaia) and they each took up different responsibilities that her mother did. While Fang maintained the natural balance of the jungle and was the de-facto leader of this triumvirate, her sisters were:

River: Godddess of the Water. The jungle itself was a massive island, which meant that water surrounded it and it had its fair share of rivers and lakes. Also, the island has its catacombs which need patrolling. River, being more suited to life in the water, took the responsibility of patrolling all bodies of water; both in the immediate vacinity of the island and within the jungle. She would visit her family whenever she had the chance, but her home was in the water.

Sylva: Goddess of the Hunt. Now, Sylva was originally first-in-line to becoming the Goddess of the Jungle. She was the first-born and was a master fighter; possessing even greater strength than both Fang and River. However, Sylva was more of a rebel in her early days and was not interested in being the Goddess of the Jungle. She was more into hunting exotic games and festivities; plus, she could not swim. Though, of course, this did not mean she would help her family when needed. Her duty, as the Goddess of the Hunt, was to eliminate anything that was (without any shred of doubt) a danger to the island. This of course meant taking care of dangerous creatures such as hydras, where one alone (when a fully grown adult) could go on a rampage. Plus, this gave her more freedom to serve as a scout and tracker, which could prove useful in times of conflict with evil forces.

Fang would have a rough start to her new life as 'Goddess of the Jungle', but with time and help from her family, she would make it.

Now, her duties would officially begin when she was nineteen, as this was the time that Gaia disappeared. Fang was originally more focused on other things aside from being a deity. She was more wandering around the jungle, joining in parties and festivities (though never to the extent of Sylva) and even flirting with some of the men from different tribes; she was quite the flirt, though it never went beyond some hugging and kissing. Though, she did fall in love with one human, who went by the name of Perin. They started dating, though Gaia had warned Fang about being romantically involved with a mortal. As Fang started her new duties, she continued her relationship with Perin, loving him dearly. In turn, Perin loved Fang and would help her whenever needed.

It was a shaky start, but Fang was able to keep a manageable pace with her duties.

Today, Fang was on her own. She was investigating one of the temples in the jungle. This temple guarded a rather important secret. There was a pond inside of it, but it was not made of ordinary water. In legends, it was said that these waters were one of many that saw the creation of the Gods and Goddesses of this island. This water, had the power to bestow great strength to whomever, or whatever entered it. Now, the water would not work on Fang, as she already possessed the strength that she needed. However, the seal was undone and Fang had to check to make sure that nothing got in. This was due to a concern that anyone could exploit this water's gifts and use it for evil purposes that would negatively affect the jungle. While many humans bore no such will, there had been others in the past that tried to claim the jungle for their own, destroy it or even try to complete a personal vendetta against the deities.

Fang ventured deep into temple and found the pond. It was overrun with jungle flora, as it seemed that the area did get sunlight from the various crevices from the roof; though non of them could be accessed by any living thing. The goddess patrolled the area, checking that nothing or anyone was around. However, she was still inexperienced and unable to notice the signs that she was being watched by a predator. Its black scales allowed it to hide in the dark areas around the pond. It picked up Fang's scent. Many snakes do not differentiate between humans and goddesses. Therefore, Fang would appear as an enticing meal to this snake. It slowly slithered towards Fang ready to strike.

Minutes had gone by before Fang had completed her patrol.

"Ok...nothing here..." Fang said to herself, before turning towards the main entrance, "Ok, time to seal that hole."

However, Fang spoke too soon as she felt a sharp pain on her shoulder that pulled her down onto the ground. Before she could even react, she felt something wrapping around her midriff and her right leg. She felt a sharp pain that was squeezing down on her. She then realized that she was in the coils of a black snake; as evident when she looked down to see why she could not move her arms very well, as they were pinned to her sides by one coil. Spotting the head right next to her, as the snake flickered its tongue at her, Fang analyzed the creature to determine its size. The snake itself was barely fifteen-feet in length.

Normally, a snake of this size would pose no challenge to the deities of the jungle; even humans could fend it off as long as they had the right tools and kept a clear head. Snakes of this size would've waited until they were much bigger before targeting humanoid prey. However, something was not right with this snake. It felt much stronger than what it was, like a snake that was thirty-forty feet in length. That was when Fang realized what happened. The snake had to been in the pond long enough to gain increased strength; which no doubt would have made it bold to make a move like this. This strength caught Fang off guard and now she was in for a fight, because she could tell that with the look in the snake's eyes that it was hungry.

The snake delivered a powerful squeeze that made Fang grunt in pain. She squirmed in the coils. Currently, she could not use her arms and her right leg had two coils around it, with her left leg held by the tip of the snake's tail; keeping her immobilized at the moment. Despite this, she was determined to get out of this. She was the Goddess of the Jungle and she would not fall to such an opponent.

Besides, if her sisters heard that she was beaten by a rather small snake, she would not hear the end of it.

--------------------------------------------

Alright, a bit of a lengthy story, but I felt it should go with this pic. This is the first of an eight-part sequence that was not cheap, I'll tell you that much!

But it was worth it. Fang looks rather gorgeous in 's style. She ended up looking like in the mid-twenties so I figured that this story would take place when she was at the exact age.

And of course, I figured that she would be good in the coils of a snake. What shall happen next for Fang? Well, it will be a struggle alright where it could go either way.

Enjoy.

Behind the scenes:

So I mentioned a few characters in this story:

1) Gaia: A character I have yet to reveal. I'm not entirely certain on appearance yet, but we will see her one day.

2) River: A character created by Goddess of the Water - River . Check out his work, as I know that he does excellent work; based on past work and commissions he did from me.

3) Sylva: A character created by myself - Sylva - Goddess of the Hunt

4) Perin: Fang's first (chronological) lover. A character that was created by for our rps. Maybe Perin will appear in art-form someday. Who knows.
