In this image, the woman is portrayed as suffering from agoraphobia, a condition which leads to extreme anxiety and fear about leaving the safe environment of home, being in open spaces or being alone or in a public place. The chain that binds her leg is only real to her, keeping her bound to the safety of her home. The ocean outside the door is how she portrays the outdoors...large, neverending...with which she feels as if she's drowning. A single tear falls from her face as she knows not how to unbind herself from the chains that keep her prisoner in her mind. I hope you like this...thank you.
