- - - Since I've been drawing mostly dragons in the past month, I thought I might as well take this approach.So pretty much it's Charizard from Pokemon but I just redesigned it a bit. I tried to make it look more draconic without losing much of the cartoon-ish look and feel to it.

I often wonder what Charizard and some of the first Gen pokemon would look like if they weren't held back by the lack of color and pixel support in the original gameboy. Considering that pokemon designs have gotten more complex (Compare Dragonite to Haxorus) and dare I say, more uniquely japanese, I imagine that a Charizard created for later generations would look pretty close to this.
I'm not baiting for an argument with first gen purists or anything, but honestly, this drawing is all that is win.

This is SOOOOO much better than the original version. As it turns out I am one of the few people out there who like Charmeleon but think Charizard is fail, and now I wish they'd used this design instead of the way-too-clunky Sugi-style.

Yeah I'm with ya there, I liked Charmeleon much better especially with his bulky arms and tint of red which i was hoping would've transfered over to Charizard but they reverted back to Charmander's orange.

It's not the color that bugs me, it's the fact that, as I said before, it's a bit too clunky. I mean, it's a Flying type and it's got wings - but how can it get off the ground if with that pot belly? O_o
