The lighting effects on her shirt and hair are a very nice touch. Adds an atmosphere that complements her expression, I think.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm really getting used to highlighting and the like - I guess that's a nice change since I spent so long only work with shadows. XD

The way you highlighted her hair is very unique and pretty. Do you change the flow of your brush a lot? It adds nice texturing to her clothes and their shadows.

I do on some parts but mostly I just change the way I apply the brush - speed and tilt make the most difference.

It definitely does. I think flow can make the most difference when painting in PS. It just depends on what you're going for in the end. But you're experimenting and in all my panels that I do I always tell people that no matter what I say or what they learn that they will get the most out of just experimenting and trying new things that they themselves find.

I really wish I could do the hair like this for all the characters but it seems to only work well on the full black hair with just a hit of color. Perhaps a little more experimentation is needed. XD

Used to be when I could afford them! Still have my Snap-On torque wrench.

Yeah for the most part - but like in the case of my torque wrench the ratcheting mechanism is dead and that costs money to get rebuilt.

and I'm going to go out on a limb and assume thats a rather costly fix :<

Not really - it's like $70 or something. I just haven't fixed mine because I haven't done any work that's really really needed that ratcheting mechanism to be perfect.
