I'm wondering...is this AU? Does it take place after Orihime was kidnapped or is it just a change of canon kind of thing? I'm a little confused seeing as how they have holes and mask fragments yet no one seems to care or notice for that matter,

It is entirely AU.
Well, the others kinda know about the espadas. In my story they're all kindof in the same world. There's no Hueco Mundo or anything. It's a school-life approach to the otherwise action-fantasy Bleach normally is.
