Canyons are the devil I'm telling ya. I got huugely inspired by *Fujinai 's way of drawing them.. otherwise I'd just have died over those, I swear.xD

Anyway.. boring piece is boring.. Sorry for that but I've got a lot of stuff going on right now and there's barely any inspiration left for drawing.

Assignment #3 - Day 2

Assignment: Witness the explosion

Kayla was listening to the conversation between Walker and the other guys but not really paying attention. Her eyes ghosted over the reddish canyon walls, a slightly uneasy feeling settled in her stomach. She didn't like this place...it felt like a trap and the Lawmen were really close by already, the scouts had seen them closing in when the Outlaws had left the camp in the morning.
Kayla turned around in the saddle when she heard an exasperated sigh behind her.
"Aye ye should better pay attention to these guys, Cowboy or ye're gonna get lost." she smirked sarcastically at the tall blonde man with a red bandana who rode a handsome paint gelding.
He laughed - it sounded more like a bark, though - and directed his horse right next to Blakkur.
"You're the one who should better watch out, Irishwoman. That redhead gal over there is looking daggers at you for as long as we're stuck in this fucked up canyon already." he said, his voice low and raspy and pointed towards Gwen with his chin.
Kayla followed his gaze and snorted. "Aya this one... well we had a little... uh... disagreement about her rat and I was not ... overly gentle with that rat..to put it mildly."
Gwen shot a glare towards Kalya in that exact moment and the man laughed again.
"Well ain't that a pretty little enemy you've got yerself there, huh?" he eyed her briefly and added: "Name's Billy by the way." He extended a hand for her to shake.
"'Pleasure. I'm Kayla." she retorted and just when she wanted to take his hand an ear splitting explosion cut through the dusty air between the canyon walls and all hell broke loose.
Voices were yelling things over the panicked screaming of horses. Dust and dispersed dirt choked man and beast, blinding everyone.
Kayla heard the high pitched whinny of Bill's paint gelding right next to her, mixed with the man's cursing and felt the heavy thud of the horse's body as he threw himself against Blakkur in fear, making the black stallion rear and jump to the side. The Irishwoman noticed Blakkur's growing panic and tried to keep her own nerves together, talking to her stallion in a soothing voice.
Then another sound hit her ears over the general ruckus of bolting horses and screaming riders. A small whimper, barely audible, a whine from something considerably smaller than a horse.
Kayla looked around frantically when she saw it: Something small and furry, crouched on the ground, shaking, calling out for somebody to help them, barely able to avoid the flailing hooves.
She gritted her teeth and felt her hand clench around the reins.
