It was pretty sad in the X series, it was Sigma's fault that the Repliforce turned against the Maverick Hunters, so that the Repliforce will do Sigma's bidding, Zero was forced to kill his best friend, the Repliforce Colonel and his love interest Iris, and Zero is a Copy, his spirit is inside the Copy when he became Omega in his real body, and Zero has no memories of his time as a Maverick Hunter, but Zero remembered X, but doesn't remember anyone else, he doesn't remember Axl, he doesn't remember Iris, he doesn't remember Alia, etc. But since Ciel found him, he vowed that he would protect the people and Reploids that he believed in, especially Ciel.

Agreed, Hexidextrous. First in MMX he has to kill Iris, He loses his memory, he has to kill who others say is a copy of his best friend, he has to watch his friend die, and then he dies just after saving the world and going through the pain of his memories.

Zero you just can't help but feel sorry for. He's such a tragic hero.
Zero 1: Found out that his best friend was a copy, and slaughtered dozens of innocents.
Zero 2: Had to kill Elpizo, the resistance base leader and watched as Elpizo murdered the real Megaman X, his long time friend and ally, right in front of him!
Zero 3: Watches Weil's minions, Omega, Crea, and Prea, nuke an entire populated city, despite his efforts to stop them! Also Finds out that he has been living in a fake body and has amnesia, as well as has to waste his real body to stop Omega. Then he has to see X, in the Reploid equivalent of a Ghost, depart on and leave him forever.
Zero 4: Once zero dies, Weil is finally ended and humankind and Reploid-kind is saved. He made the ultimate sacrifice to save all, yet the war wasn't completely ended yet. And before he dies, Zero found his answer to who he is fighting for, albeit by memory loss.
Poor Zero.

oh you know he's gonna wake up in another goddamn cave eventually... he always wakes up in a goddamn cave.... he's the video game character equivalent of family guy you cant kill him off forever and thats the worst part of it. though why the cave thing... only question about that. seriously x five cave. x two if you dont put the pieces together before hand cave zero 1 (which i've seen on gamejolt someone is remaking it. yays) cave.
oh right. lets not forget that he's died more times than krillen. and been brought back. though not his love intrests. in zx we see that ciel died and in x 4 iris. oh god poor iris! forced to fight zero and him having to kill her. god thank goodness that he lost his memory otherwise who knows what would have happened in zero

Despite the fact he never sees himself as a hero, he's still the perfect example of one, fighting for his beliefs and for the people he cares about while having no qualms about bringing down the people who cause others immense suffering through false justifications and physical harm.
