this piece was js done for practice reasons to warm my brain up for my next freakin massive project ive assigned myself too.ok so i just finished reading sean murphy's hellblazer, and man...this guy has some skill ! [link]
so well i thought hey! i wanna have a crack at his style..
why u may ask...
BECAUSE HE IS FUCKING AWESOME THATS WHY!!
so
well obviously this is nuthing compared to him...this is the shit flies sit on. anyway..check him out! seriously! if you want to learn about art, an im not js talking about actual drawing skill ( he is fukin amazing but thats not all there is to art)
im talking about how to display a page, how to draw attention, how to lead the eye of the viewer..chek him out.
an read his journals! you WILL learn alot!!!
anyhoo, this was fun! it sux that i dont have an a3 scanner so i had to piece this together and you may or may not notice the middle of the pic is a lil blurry...well....you have a crack at fitting an A3 page into an A4 scanner haha!

oh yeh! about the turtles: i dont like the idea of em all dressing the same with nuthin but color difference. so i gave em all a unik style that i think fits...exept maybe donatelo..i gave him a suit..why? because i js read hellblazer
and he has always been the sit at the computer guy of the group. no need for battle gear.so leo: thought id make him look like a leader. not exactly ninja get up but oh well! ninja getup on these guys would look gay anyway ive tried. i was staring at my kratos (god of war) figure while i was thinkin of what to dress him as haha
mike: gave him board shorts ( the leaf design thing would be orange an the rest would be white) with skater knee and shoulder pads...cuz he sk8's
raph: i gave him the full on worrior armor inspired by the tv show " spartacus"..ispired..not copied so its not exactly the same
was done in about 1 hour 30 ish
tools: indian ink, white watercolors ( i was out of white acrylic)
and shitty..shitty.shittttyyyyyyy acrylic paper that bleeds so f-in much i felt like i was gona bleed into it if i left my hand ther long enuf!

Ok this is extremely awesome!!! Eastman and Laird would be happy!!! This is the way I remember the Turtles, I will be dating myself here, but I started reading the Turtles when the first comics came out and they certainly were NOT for kids. The stories were dark and the art was even darker.
You have captured those old TMNT comics perfectly. In fact I would advise to keep this in black and white it works so well. Top notch work mate!
Oh and BTW I love the pose you gave Mike, fits the personality perfectly...

thats exactly what i tried to do with this, give it that "origin" feel they had bakc when they just came out, but with an update on art style.
i colored it, then well, the black and white was better.
was having fun with the suits though! i was imagining them in their original red masks, an thought different suits would work well to differentiate them

the clothes do actually fit
ina future time line donnatello was the head of a multinational so a suit wil fit him
rapheal donned the shredder armor for a while
and i can see leo and mike wearing what they wear especially leo and the way of bushido
