Description Escape from reality
Created: Summer '07
Medium: Acrylic
-SOLD-

This is one of my first paintings ever done on canvas. The supplies were graciously provided from BYRC, a youth centre which has an art program that encourages youth to go in and join in on the free fun. This is my favourite painting of all time, but unfortunately it was sold before I got to not place it on sale. PS, sorry about the coloring, it shouldn't be this yellow, it might have been the lighting on the day when this was taken.

I was trying to bring out the issues of the polar bears slowly dwindling because of climate change, hopefully people will get to see this and take my message to heart.

That is foliage in the background, representing the enroachment of a warmer climate? Hard to tell in the light, but I do like the symbolism here.

I wanted to do icelands melting and crashing, making splashes, but it never turned out too well with it being cut off too soon =[. But you got the jist of the idea, of a warmer climate approaching, where they have to leave and hope for a better reality =3

I really like the painting...especially the texture in the background. The polar bears are adorable although the whole mood of the image is sad. The only suggestion I have is to center the block of ice on which the bears are on.

Thanks! and I'm not sure, but I think the original (not the cropped out photo version) is more centered. It's been awhile since I've seen the painting, so I could be wrong . But I'll keep that in mind the next time I take a pic of one of my paintings =3.

Thanks it took a long time to get that far, and I like to think that I'm still getting better.

the bear on the left seems so sad... kind of resigned too. it's quite pretty, shame about the lighting

It's a very beautiful piece and it does speak in volumes. The expressions of the bears make me realize the majority of water around them. The small island of ice in which the polar bears are on seem to portray that that is the last of their home, and the water would soon flood their habitat.

It's a nice piece of art, and it's colors are nice and cool with a tint of warmness in it. Good job!

haha. XD really? Wow. The islands SHOULD be the most notable part of it since the polar bears are on it.
