I love the contrast between your brush strokes. For the 'monster' (he looks more like the sort of thing you'd want to find under your bed), you've got some lovely harsh strokes, then for the bird, so much more gentle strokes. Love it!

I don't know why, but I really like this....

And you're right, a "monster" is but a strange being, not bad... many people are more monstrous than any fictional horror (who would you rather be around, Charles Manson, or Frankenstein's creature?)
