Once Nedes said goodbye to Joshua, he packed his things in his pack and ran as fast as his little feet could carry him. He scurried through the beams and pillars inside the walls of his and Joshua's home, until he finally reached the door to his family's home. When he entered, the room was quiet, but that was immediately replaced with Nedes proclamation.
"Hey mom! I'm home! You wouldn't believe what happened..."
Nedes was interrupted by movement from his parent's room and a figure launched right at him. He tried to move out of the way, but the figure quickly latched onto him: it was Lace, his mother.
"Where were you!?!?"
Nedes had never heard or seen his mother like this before. Her face was full anger, sadness, and relief all at the same time. Her eyes were bloodshot, with tears streaming down her face. She took him at arms length and firmly grasped his shoulders, looking directly at him.
"Where were you Nedes!?!?"
"Mom...I..."
"Do you know how long I was waiting? I...I was so worried..."
Lace began to sob and slowly sank to her knees.
"I thought...I thought you were...you were...oh Nedes!"
It was then that she started to cry uncontrollably. Nedes felt incredibly guilty, he didn't know his mom would meltdown like this. He knelt beside her and firmly covered her in the warmest hug he could muster.
"It's ok mom, I'm here now...everything's ok now."
"Oh Nedes..."
"Mom I...I need to tell you something. I...found something that can make dad and sis better."
Lace looked at him with a gleam of hope and confusion in her eyes.
"What...?"
Nedes was about to tell her about the medicine he brought with him, but soon realized something: Joshua. If he told the truth about what really happened, then he would be grounded forever! Then as soon as his dad and sis got better, they would move faraway and never see each other again! He had to make up a story and quick!
"Well the...human was talking to himself and...and he was getting sick because he went into the same room dad and sis went into. He got medicine and when he wasn't looking I grabbed one! See, look."
Nedes took off his pack and opened the flap, revealing the large, white pill.
"See, everything's alright..."
Nedes passed the pill to his mom's arms. She held it carefully, like it was the most fragile thing in the world. She looked and smiled at him.
"Oh Nedes, my baby boy..."
Lace wiped the tears from her as she stood up; Nedes followed suit.
"I'm so happy your safe and now...EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!"
Lace gave him a thumbs up with a large, goofy smile plastered on her face. Nedes was taken aback at his mother's sudden change in mood, but he was just happy his mom wasn't sad anymore.
"I'll just cut this thing into little pieces and give it to my darlings, oh I can't wait to see them awake..."
And Lace happily kept rambling on and on as she prepared everything for Traves and Rapidas.

Joshua didn't know what to do now that Nedes left to his family. He was just sitting in the dinning room; he originally planned on doing nothing today, but found himself wanting to do anything besides sit around and wait for Nedes to comeback...
Man...I already miss the little guy and it's been like what? Ten minutes? There has to be something I can do...
It dawned on him that his old room still had a decayed hand in it and was extremely dangerous to everyone's health. Filled with determination, Joshua suited up with a mask filter, goggles, latex gloves, pants and a long-sleeve shirt. He also brought plastic bags, a cleaning brush, a large sponge and bleach. He entered his old room, with the horrible stench clinging in the air, and began the process of cleaning.
He started with the hand; how it got here, how the police missed this in their investigation, and who's hand this was, were all questions he shoved into the back of his mind. It didn't matter, Andreas was going to be executed in a few days anyway. He removed the gunk and bone with his hands and put them into a plastic bag. Joshua noted that he was taking this all in stride, more or less. Three days ago, he would have flipped out at the mere mention of his name and probably fall into depression-induced coma if he even saw blood, especially if it was in his old room!
After removing the hand, he noticed something under it. It was smooth and curved; when he held it, it was light, but felt very durable. Joshua wiped the grime off with the bleach-infused sponge and what he saw made him shiver. It was a white mask, with two red, transparent, crescent shaped eyes and its large gaping mouth was also made from the same material as its eyes except it had small holes in it for breathing. With all of these features together, the mask looked terrifying, but amused, as if it heard a funny joke.
It was a mask with a smiling face, similar to the one his family's killer wore. Joshua cleaned the rest of the mask and noticed a few differences from Andreas' mask: the eyes weren't 'v'-shaped and the mouth was smaller. This sent a clear message of who left the hand here.
...But how? Andreas is in prison, there's no way he could have done this.
However, he thought, it didn't matter. It was all going to be over in two days. No use getting worried over nothing. So, Joshua continued to clean well into the afternoon. The room was now spotless; not a hint of mold in sight.
Next, Joshua went to his backyard with the plastic bag containing the hand. The yard was mostly dirt, with a rusted swing and slide set and three dying trees. He dug a hole near the farthest tree from the house and buried the bag and hand. Returning inside, he began to clean the trash-ridden living room. Once he was finished filling the last trash bag, he noticed it was night.
Busy day today...a snack before bed and I should be fine.
Before going to bed, Joshua left a small block of cheese and an orange wedge behind the living room t.v.

It's a pity you haven't continued this because I really like it...
I assume Gio Andreas is not the real, or not the only, Smiley Face killer, and he is still on the loose!
PS: Sword names: Dreamslayer, Monster's Bane, Lightbringer
