I like the map, but there's not enough horizontal stretching at the poles. If you put this on a sphere, it'll pinch at the top and bottom.

Yes, that is indeed a problem I'm facing, but how could I prevent that from happening? I'm glad you like it, though!

I'm not sure if there's any particular way to do it, but it's just something you need to keep in mind when drawing.
For example, this is the pole-stretched map of Earth - one that would work on a globe [link]
Whereas this political map [link] shows continents their actual proportions.
The way I got around it was to get rid of some land from the top and bottom, then stretch them out a'la the first map.

Thanks a lot! I used normal Paint for Windows 7 for the base of the map, later adding texture with Sumo Paint, but when that stopped working through the half of it, I continued with GIMP.
