what do you shoot, what do you currently have, what is your budget, what have you shot in the past, do you have lenses at all right now etc etc. Buying a camera is VERY personal, almost any DSLR today will do fine, however which one FEELS best? If you can go put your hands on a few that is the best way to get to know them.

I personally love Nikon, some love Canon, if your just starting out, the Rebel line from Canon is probably best, or the D3000 or D5000 from Nikon.

Yeah Im only 17 so I dont have much money to spend. I'd have to get something that is less than 200 bucks at the moment just to work with. Think I'll look at the Nikons Thanks^^

Well getting a DSLR is going to be tough in the under 200 category. Might take a look at the used equipment on BHphoto.com and Adorama.com

And or, if you have a job save up for a few months.

If you want to move to a point and shoot for the time being, nikon and canon both make fine options as well.

I would point you to the lower right side of the page where when possible DA posts the exif data about the image, in this case I was shooting my D90, with the 18-55VR kit lens. I have significantly cropped this image and I popped the onboard flash.

yeah DA likes to mess with things but I know every now and then someone doesn't know about a feature... took me longer than I want to admit to find the exif area
