Well some of Entei's dex entries mention legends of new Entei being born. With the conformation of multiple legendary birds in Let's Go and new Regis added to the lore, they seem to be willing to just retcon whatever at this point anyways.

i am fine with the birds because i never got the vibe that there is just 1 of each
and true, maybe the beast can create other beasts, the new regis seem to be fully new, and i can imagine Regigigas made multiple in what ever age it was in so i can imagine multiple regirock because it is JUST rocks
i just hope they don;t make variants for the god like beings like Dialga and Palkia because it wouldn't make much sense
